These que was worth the wait after seeing the what was in store inside

The event itself seems to be a smash hit from the get go and participants were treated to variety of dental assortments as far as the eyes can see. The event took off with the opening and inauguration of the function.

Ribbon cutting ceremony

The assortment of high quality distributors gathering in one hall

But with all that aside the 2012 IDEM exhibition was also a landmark milestone in APDSA’s history where the 1st ever APDSA-IDEM Student Volunteer Program was launched for its maiden vovage, It had been a pioneer project of the “Student Volunteer Program”collaboration between IDEM and APDSA which was agreed upon during the 38th APDSA congress in Bangkok, Thailand. This mutual collaboration has successfully brought students from various Asia Pacific countries to Singapore to broaden their insight in the science, industry, and business of dentistry.

The program provided an excellent opportunity to bond with fellow students and get a behind-the-scene glimpse of how Singapore Dental Association and Koelnmesse jointly organized this international scale conference. Another highlight for the volunteer students was the valuable tea sessions with two speakers; Professor Urs Belser, University of Geneva, and Professor Robert Boyd, University of the Pacific. During the two-hour interaction, there were robust discussions and idea exchanging that we would never have learned inside the classroom. The tea session was indeed very inspiring and enlightened us insights into our future career planning and patient treatment.

Keynote Speaker Professor Urs Belser

One of the Participating Student APDSA EXCO SRC Coordinator had this to say about this program. In this APDSA-IDEM SVP without doubt is an unforgettable experience for all the attendee. During my short visit to Singapore, I was given the chance to meet with established leaders in dentistry and had an excellent time with the other volunteer students. Most important, this opportunity enabled me to obtain first-hand insights and allowed us to build up closer ties with counterparts in the region. I do believe that all this experiences will facilitate my future career. I highly recommend you all to join this program in the future and I assure you it’ll bring you a different point of view for your practice. I would also like to express my gratitude toward IDEM for arranging this meaningful SVP event and I appreciate the full support that IDEM has been giving to all volunteer students.

-Thailand donation
Due to the big flood disaster in Thailand, Thailand LOCs asked donation from Lend a Hand project for USD 1000. The current lend a hand balance in Stanley’s hand is USD 718. Malaysia will return USD 300 plus some balance from their community project profit. However, the money was cut from Thailand congress profit, as the profit is still kept by Thailand LOCs. Collecting Thailand donation under Lend a Hand project will be promoted to all APDSA countries. It will be transferred to Thailand by the end of this year.

- APDSJ
It is planned to get some sponsor publish their promotion pages on APDSJ so that printed copies of APDSJ can be released. However, APDF’s accreditation is needed. The current format of APDSJ is still used while waiting for APDF’s accreditation.

- Update of MYM Taiwan
There will be 37 foreign delegates and 80 Taiwanese participants. LOCs will be in charge of your transportation between airport and hotel. All foreign delegates will be given an easy card which can be used for Metro, buses to transport around Taipei. Further information regarding the weather, etc., will be send by email to each participant. If there is any change about hotel rooms or the date of arrival and departure, it should be told to LOCs before November 15th.
- IDEM
IDEM has signed the sponsorship agreement and the payment should be received during their next payment cycle. Until email discussion with IDEM, there were still no APDSA applicants for IDEM congress. More publication about IDEM is needed.
