-Thailand donation
Due to the big flood disaster in Thailand, Thailand LOCs asked donation from Lend a Hand project for USD 1000. The current lend a hand balance in Stanley’s hand is USD 718. Malaysia will return USD 300 plus some balance from their community project profit. However, the money was cut from Thailand congress profit, as the profit is still kept by Thailand LOCs. Collecting Thailand donation under Lend a Hand project will be promoted to all APDSA countries. It will be transferred to Thailand by the end of this year.- APDSJ
It is planned to get some sponsor publish their promotion pages on APDSJ so that printed copies of APDSJ can be released. However, APDF’s accreditation is needed. The current format of APDSJ is still used while waiting for APDF’s accreditation.- Update of MYM Taiwan
There will be 37 foreign delegates and 80 Taiwanese participants. LOCs will be in charge of your transportation between airport and hotel. All foreign delegates will be given an easy card which can be used for Metro, buses to transport around Taipei. Further information regarding the weather, etc., will be send by email to each participant. If there is any change about hotel rooms or the date of arrival and departure, it should be told to LOCs before November 15th.
- IDEM
IDEM has signed the sponsorship agreement and the payment should be received during their next payment cycle. Until email discussion with IDEM, there were still no APDSA applicants for IDEM congress. More publication about IDEM is needed.Minutes recorded by: Melissa Budipramana

It has been well over 2 months after the APDSA-IDEM cooperation signing in Bangkok, Thailand. Again we would to send out a reminder for all of you hopefuls to take part in a wonderful opportunity to join the IDEM Student Leader Program, the deadline is drawing near a month to until registrations for the student program is closed. So these are things that they could offer you just to refresh your memory.
IDEM provides:
- Complimentary 3 nights twin-sharing accommodation at a hotel.
- Return Airfare reimbursement of up to SGD 500 for flights of 3 hours and less and up to SGD 1,000 for flights of 7 hours and less.
- Lunch during the conference days.
- Pass to attend the scientific conference lectures and exhibition.
- Attendance at all networking events of IDEM such as the IDEM Night, Speakers night
- Possibly a unique opportunity to have a 20 – 30 mins. dedicated session time with a leading dentistry speaker with the other students in this program.
What you are expected to do:
- To contribute to the organizing of the event onsite for 4 hours each conference day in being “country liaison officers”. The role of the country liaison officers includes that of assisting any groups of visitors/ participants whilst at IDEM from their home country in their own language.
- To give a short presentation (10-15 mins) on dentistry in their home country.
- To participate in the events and activities that have been arranged for the students including speakers night, IDEM night etc.

ILO has updated APDSA country profiles and will soon be put up in the website.
Armenia would like to have exchange with APDSA countries, they are willing to host our student for free. Inessa (Armenia representative) will contact the country representatives soon. If there is any member of APDSA who would like to go to Armenia, they can contact Inessa via their country representative.
- Disaster Relieve Fund
It is preferred that APDSA have a separate account from APDF. This account will be used only when it is necessary, for example, if a disaster happens. General public or some companies can donate directly to this account. However, it needs clear guideline which will avoid abuse of the fund. APDF treasurer agreement is also required.

- Updates on APDSA Indonesia congress
University of Indonesia has informally agreed to be the host for APDSA Congress 2013. It is also supported by Indonesian Dentists Association. It will be held on Sari Pan Pacific Hotel, Jakarta, on August 19th-24th, 2013, and the post tour will be held in Jogjakarta on August 24th-27th, 2013.
- Updates on Malaysia community service project
The venue of the programs will be at Sekolah Kebangsaan Kedai Buloh (2), Badang. The closing date for registration is extended from 4th September to 11th September 2011. Until 9th September, 2011, the quota for local students is already full while the quota for international students is still available for more to sign up. However, if the quotas are not filled, then the place will be filled by those in the waiting list.

Every international participant will be paired up with a local participant of same gender to stay in a foster family house. Their foster families will provide meals and staying place for them during their 3-day stay and the participants may experience the local Malay lifestyle.
- Treasurer report
- The amount of petty cash currently is USD 2905.51. The current amount we have under APDF is USD 13317.83.
- Proposed donation from IDEM of S$ 1000.00 had been received under ADPSA account. In return, IDEM is stated as APDSA sponsor by putting up their logo and link on our APDSA official website.
- Thailand LOC is reminded to submit their financial report and pay the amount of money required by October 21st, 2011, which is [(3000USD loan + 30% profit + capitation fee) - IADS rep sponsor (13000THB) - AGM room booking (6000THB) – SRC prize (300USD)]
- IDEM collaboration:
IDEM will select 2 students from each country to join their congress. The students interested in joining IDEM congress have to submit a scientific research paper to IDEM. The closing date of submission is revised to December 15th, 2011, at 23.59 GMT+8. Further information about this will be shown on APDSA website.

10 reasons why i love this year’s congress

it’s been a week or so from the congress which was held in thailand on the 15th to the 21st of August, although being back in my home country and returning to daily school activities i still can’t shake the euforia I got from the congress and a piece of my heart is left behind in thailand making me miss it even more. During those amazing 7 days I left for a congress that I thought as always would be a memorable experience but as is completed my journey to the land of smiles i came back wanting for more as I yearn to relive those 7 days and wishing it would never end.
This post is a retrospect of my personal experience during the congress which I want to share with all of you though we may experienced it differently. As the title implies I would like to give you my 10 personal reasons why this year was so special for me and those who attended it, the people that missed it I can only say you missed out on a great one!!!!.
Why 10 you might ask? because I can not think any reasons less of the wonderful things this congress has offered me and if make it more than 10 well it will turn out as a diary ha3. Enough introductions let’s start! Read the rest of this entry »

Minutes of the 2011 APDSA AGM Bangkok,Thailand
Posted on August 30th, 2011 No commentsThe following is an account of the minutes taken of the [APDSA ANNUAL GRAND MEETING 2011] held on [AUGUST 17TH, WEDNESDAY] at [RAMA GARDEN HOTEL, BANGKOK, THAILAND].
1.Internal Affairs
a.APDSA-IADS Collaboration
Jack Ji Chao described the activities in IADS, which consists of annual congress and mid year meeting, student exchange programs, standing committee on research and education, voluntary work abroad and newsletter. The future congress would be IADS Mid-Year Meeting 2012 in Egypt, February 25th-March 3rd and IADS Annual Congress 2012 in Romania in August.
b.APDSA-IDEM Collaboration
The Memorandum of Understanding of APDSA-IDEM collaboration (Refer Appendix 1) was signed by International EXCO President, Peerapat Kaweewongprasert, and President Elect, Noy Gliksman.
2.Executive Committee Report
a.Financial Report
-It was reported that there was an amount of USD 13318,83 in the APDSA bank account under APDF.
- There was an amount of USD 518 for APDSA Lend a Hand project.
- APDSA Exco would be responsible for IADS representative registration fee for APDSA Congress 2011. It was expected that a representative from IADS joined the congress for free, but in fact no IADS representative joined due to miscommunication.
-APDSA Exco was also responsible for AGM extra time, which was extended by two hours. It was worth THB 6000 for the meeting room fee.
b.Student Exchange Program
The first student exchange program had been successfully done. Karen Voon from Malaysia attended student exchange program in Taiwan for two weeks. However, it was still hard to find the best accommodation for the exchange students.
3.Association Activities
a.Malaysia Community Service Project
The first APDSA’s community service project will be held in Kampung Badang, Kelantan, Malaysia, on October 7th-9th 2011. It is organized by Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) and International Medical University (IMU). Registration will be closed on September 4th, 2011. The poster and brochure had been distributed to all country representatives.
b.MYM 2011
APDSA Mid Year Meeting 2011 will be held in Taipei, Taiwan, on November 25th-27th. Its promotion video had been presented by Erin Yu Shan Huey. The poster and brochure had been distributed to all country representatives.
c.APDSA Congress 2012
APDSA Congress 2012 will be held in Cairns, Australia, on June 18th-23rd. Noy Gliksman described the activities there and showed the promotion video.
d.APDSA Congress 2013
Indonesia will be a candidate for hosting APDSA Congress 2013. However, it still cannot be fixed due to an internal problems. If Indonesia cannot solve the problem, Malaysia will be the host country. The final host country will be determined at MYM 2011.
4.Elections

The essence of IDEM’S cooperation with APDSA to is continuously looking at contributing to the dental community in the Asian Region by creating an activity that will be beneficial for the dentistry students in the region.
The concept is to bring in 2 deserving dentistry students from each country from the Asian region to volunteer at the IDEM congress on (20-22 April 2012) and serve as student ambassadors at the event. Hoping to enhance their experience at IDEM and for them to share a unique bonding experience with students of different nationalities.
What IDEM provides:
