APDSA 2011 update
Posted on February 26th, 2010 No commentsBelow is the email that was sent regarding the progress of the 38th APDSA congress which will be held in Thailand in 2011.
Dear all
Due to APDSA Congress 2011 will hold again in Thailand. We, Thailand Local Organizing committee (LOC), have already chosen the date of our congress.
It will be on 8-14th August 2011. Because on 12th of Aug is Thailand Mother Day, a National Holiday. As you can know that Thailand and some member country have different period of summer or spring break. From all above, it’ll be less effect to our class and clinic if the congress hold in this time. We would like to make sure that other member countrys are free to come and ready for amazing Thailand along with us.
And the last, we would like to inform our official e-mail of APDSA Thailand 2011, apdsathailand@hotmail.com, which all of you can feel free to express the inspiration or sent us a questionable things about our congress. We’ll look forward to your e-mail.
PS. It gonna be great that if the representative of each member country confirms the date via this e-mail,apdsathailand@hotmail.com, before 15th of March.
Spice UP Your Life
APDSA Thailand 2011
Peerapat Kaweewongprasert
President Elect APDSA EXCO 09/10We encourage input for the Thailand LOC and hopes that everyone will be able to participate. We also should applaud the readiness and progress of the Thailand LOC.

APDSA APAL
Posted on February 7th, 2010 2 commentsThis post is to acknowledge APAL (APDSA Alumni) that is rarely mentioned during the APDSA congress but rest assured there is one .In this post a member of APAL from our member country Fiji ,Dr Zac Morse BDS BScDent(Hons) GradDipClinDent PhD FPFA FICD ,would like to share his experiences and views he had when we attended his 1st APDSA Congress and what motivates him up to this day to participate in the APDSA Congress.
and with his fijian comrades although small in number attended the previous congress with enthusiasm and anticipation
Through the years the friendship lasted and so does the memory of APDSA which Dr Zac still cherishes till this very day. APDSA is not just any organization it’s a big family where we can befriend to anyone. When we look back that this moment in time we can remember that we were a member of a family and will always will be a part of the APDSA family.
hopefully Dr Zac Morse’s experience can resonate to us all and serve as a beacon to how we want to mold ourselves into and where do see ourselves years from now. May this post be helpful to those who read and aspiring dental students who also wishes to join APDSA.

Submission of Country and University Information
Posted on December 13th, 2009 3 commentsAs agreed upon during the MYM meeting in Hong Kong, APDSA will adopt a format from IADS about country introduction. Meaning each member country must submit a brief detailed summary of the country which can be seen in the picture below. Hong Kong has given an example of how the summary should be. These summaries then will be published on the website to give other countries and members an idea about the members of the APDSA family and hopefully shed some light in future choices and options for members if they choose to continue their education abroad.
We would like to remind each member country to elect a country representative in order to simplify coordination between each country and the host of the APDSA congress.
and we would like each university also to appoint a contact person so coordination between universities in each country can be established. Each university contact person must also submit a brief summary of their university which will be published on the website as well.
these are the guidelines of how to make summaries above. We hope that these information will be submitted no later than the 28th of February 2010 to apdsainternational@yahoo.com . The soft copy of the format above can be downloaded below
cheers

Q and A about the APDSAJ
Posted on December 3rd, 2009 No commentshere as follows is an explanation given by the SRC Director Melissa Yap Wei Lynn about the current discussion of using the APDSAJ and its uses and comparisons to the previous format of the manuscript book.
My name is Melissa. I am the SRC Coordinator. I am sorry that I am unable to attend MYM Hong Kong. On that meeting, Karen has presented the APDSJ proposal on my behalf. She has briefed me on the questions that have arised. and I hope the explanations below can clear any doubts you have
Q1: What are the difference between APDSJ and the manuscript? Isn’t it doing the same thing?
A1: In a way, yes, it contains scientific papers. But, say in a situation when we prepare a presentation or write a paper of our own, we quote from a journal and correctly get it referred. Most importantly, a scientific journal has the opportunity to expand further, like the journal can have a section of articles examples such as”101 on presenting a paper by Lee Meng Yit” or “How to write a scientific paper and get it publish by Chong Jun Ai”, section of book reviews “Review of Oxford Clinical Dentistry by Karen Voon”

Message from IADS
Posted on November 14th, 2009 No comments
The International Association of Dental Students-IADS- was formed in 1951, to unite the dental students of the world and allow them to exchange knowledge and experiences about dentistry at an international level.
We represent the future members of the dental profession at a worldwide level. Our Central Office is at the FDI- Headquarter in France.
We meet twice annually; the main meeting is our Annual World Congress of Dental Students, held each August. Each year in a different corner of the world, this meeting typically attracts around 200 participants. It revolves around a scientific program of lectures and seminars addressing the needs of the dental student, but also includes workshop discussions, an organized social program and the various business meetings of the Association and the other is the Mid year meeting, that is a shorter one also each year in a different country and it revolves mainly around business meetings of the Association along with a rich social program.
